I grew up with a Dad who was really into bodybuilding and remember hanging out in numerous gyms when I was a kid. I didn't have Mcdonalds until I was 11 years old and we ate European style oatmeal every morning. Needless to say we ate pretty healthy. He would feed us health food bars when I was like 10 that tasted absolutely crappy. This was in the early 80s and trust me they weren't like the health food bars they have now hehe.
After turning 19 and making money I started enjoying the things I didn't have much of when I was a kid..namely junk food! For a 6' guy who was fairly skinny all his life I went from about 165lbs at age 19 to 240lbs by age 30. There were periods I would work out and get back down to about 200 but they never lasted that long. I have a computer job that involves sitting at a desk so not only did I have a deskjob but meals were Mcdonalds for breakfast, lunch and then a big dinner. Now add video games and snacks to the equation and you got a recipe for mucho fat... Last summer I got down to about 200lbs and in my mind thought I looked okay...wrong. After seeing some pictures of myself on the beach I realized what I looked like...white and doughy...a mess...Unfortunately it wasn't until this last May that I really kicked things into gear. I upped my calories...lowered my cardio, began weightlifting and started eating 6 to 7 smallers meals thoughout the day. After about 2 weeks the fat began to start melting away. I can now honestly say that I am in the best shape of my life. I have tons of energy and feel terrific. I dropped from a 42 waist to a 30...I actually enjoy shopping for clothes again...weird eh!? My advice to anyone who is overweight and depressed about it...you can change. Only .2% of the population actually have a medical condition that makes weight loss difficult...the sad reality is being overweight is a result of much stuffing of the face and not getting enough excercise. It is that simple...eat better through smaller more frequent meals throughout the day and get moving...park your car at the far end of the mall lot...walk to the video store...take the stairs...you can do it! Cheers guys! Last edited by epyx : 10-04-2006 at 07:03 PM. |
